Presenting nine spectacular performances over a period of six days

Doha, March 21st, 2012: Katara, the Cultural Village, announced today that it will be hosting the first Central Asia Cultural Festival starting on March 23rd. The six day event will offer a variety of performances from dance groups to opera arias with tickets now available at Virgin Mega stores.

With participating countries from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Republic of Tuva (Province of Russian Republic-Siberia), the festival which will run until March 28th will feature a wide variety of events from Opera singers to Violin, fashion shows, Ballet dancing and much more.

Commenting on the occasion, Doctor Emad Sultan, Cultural Affairs Director, Katara, said, “Katara is dedicated to showcasing different traditions and civilizations while also merging cultural gaps and this is exactly what we are hoping to achieve with the Central Asia Cultural Festival. We are confident that this festival will attract music and cultural fans from across the Arab region and promise to continue bringing Qatar and the region cultural experiences like nothing else.”

Each country will bring a piece of its culture and tradition to Doha representing traditional music and dances, all of which will be performed by some of the most renowned artists in Central Asia. The opening ceremony will kick start with a photographic exhibition, followed by a traditional fashion show at Katara Art Center, Building 5 at 17:30.


The opening day, March 23rd will include performances from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan which will also be presenting a classical music evening on March 24th. This will be followed by two other performances every day from March 25th until March 27th with the closing ceremony featuring an exquisite photographic exhibition.
