UCL Qatar Public Lecture: The Transformation of the Moroccan Landscape in the Islamic Period

This QNRF-sponsored project is a collaboration between UCL-Qatar and INSAP. Its aim is to explore the transition from the Late Antique to the Islamic period in a critical region of Northern Morocco and to contribute to the Archaeological Map of this country.

This lecture will discuss the three seasons of archaeological surveys conducted between 2017 and 2018 from which we have identified more than 250 new archaeological sites, many of which belonging to various phases of the Islamic period. Archaeological soundings in selected sites have provided further information on the nature of occupation during these periods.
