Climbing with bare hands The Torch Doha Tower
Aspire Zone welcomes Alain Robert “The Spiderman”
April 12th 2012 (4pm onwards)

The legendary Alain Robert, a French skyscraper climber nicknamed Spiderman will scale Doha's highest tower - The Torch on April 12th 2012. Robert will officially climb The Torch Doha 300m tower, for the first time, without safety rope and harness. As a result, Guiness Book of Records will be present at the exciting event, organised in collaboration with Aspire Zone Foundation.
Alain Robert’s production team will be shooting The Torch Doha Hotel climbing, as a part of his life documentary in 3D which will be broadcasted in cinemas around the globe.

Well-known for climbing unassisted, the 50-year-old has conquered more then 85 giant structures, pioneering attempts of such kind, including the Empire State Building, Chicago's Willis Tower and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. He has climbed numerous giant structures around the globe, most of which he has scaled using only with his bare hands and climbing shoes.

Alain declared : "I feel like a child and I finally want to open my present : I want to climb The Torch."

Now Alain Robert is ready to continue his series of solo ascents without rope and climb Doha's iconic landmark tower - The Torch, situated in the middle of Aspire Zone, Doha's Sports City. The event is expected to attract thousands of spectators to watch Alain's new record-breaking attempt. The event will be internationally broadcasted and further last in a movie production telling the story of an extraordinary human adventure.

Alain Robert has scaled 85 giant structures around the globe including many of the world's tallest structures, most of which he has scaled using only his bare hands and climbing shoes. He conquered Taiwan's Taipei 101 and in February 2003, he legally climbed the 200m (656 ft) National Bank of Abu Dhabi, UAE, watched by about 100,000 spectators.
Last year Robert climbed the iconic Burj Khalifa – the highest structure in the world- in 6 hours,14 minutes and 55 seconds watched by thousands of spectators.
