The second Silatech Summit will be held here on June 8. Under the leadership of H H Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned, the event will be the first gathering since the launch of Silatech in June last year.

The Doha Summit will convene leading international and regional business leaders, organisations, thought leaders, policy-makers, investors, community organisations and young people to participate in discussions about the impact of and responses to the current economic challenges facing young people across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

A comprehensive review of Silatech’s current efforts and projections for the future of youth employment and entrepreneurship in the Arab world will be presented during the event.

Silatech will also make a number of important announcements regarding key partnerships with country-level, regional and global institutions toward building sustainable progress in creating hope, jobs and economic opportunities for the region’s young people. These partnerships span a wide range of initiatives, including work with financial institutions, investment in small and medium enterprises, and building an economic modelling tool as a compass for determining policies and investments in the region.

In addition, the Silatech Knowledge Consortium — including the World Bank, the International Labor Organisation, and a dozen other key organisations — will also gather at the Summit for a conversation about the latest available data and scholarship on MENA youth.

The Silatech Knowledge Consortium will launch a number of regional initiatives including the first publication of the Silatech Index — a scientific, broad-based, regional survey of young Arabs — highlighting the ideas, perspectives and challenges facing the region’s young people.
