The Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel is preparing for the holy month of Ramadan, during which they claim they will offer an “amazing culinary experience” at their Iftar buffet in their Salwa ballroom.

Food and beverage director Andre Lange joined the hotel some two months ago and so the coming month will be his first Ramadan at the hotel - something he said he is very much looking forward to. “This is a very special occasion and so we have done everything we can to create a special atmosphere for all our guests,” he said, referring to the decorations in the ballroom which have been designed to signify the importance of the Holy Month, both to the guests and the hotel.

Lange explained that the hotel have introduced nine separate Iftar buffet menus, which will be changed on a rotational basis every evening. However, each evening will feature a number of dishes which will stay the same, with the other items reflecting traditional Gulf and Arab cuisine as well as Mediterranean food.

“The combination of Arabic dishes with other special Mediterranean dishes will work really well,” claimed Lange, who added that the menus had been designed by executive sous-chef, Mahmoud Kanaan. The sous-chef explained that the inspiration for the menus had come from his considerable experience of food in the region, as well as from listening to Iftar guests in the past. “We have some people who come to Iftar on a daily basis during Ramadan, and they sometimes make requests for specific dishes,” he said, “we want our guests to enjoy it as much as possible so we listen to what they want.”

Lange said the ballroom can seat 250-300 people and will be open from sunset until 10.30pm and offer Iftar guests a “special yet traditional way to celebrate the breaking of the fast with their family and friends”.
