Qtel is expecting a huge turnout for its ‘Free Family Fun Festival’, which will be held at the Aspire Park from April 23 to 25.

The special activities have been designed to celebrate Qtel’s launch of new generation of ‘Concepts Stores’ across the country. These will be held at the Aspire Zone, behind Villagio Mall from 4pm to 10pm on the three days.
The festival will include various special activities and games and people will be able to access the event for free with a special pass, available only from the ‘Concept Stores’.

To collect a free entry pass for the event, customers can visit any of the newly-opened Qtel stores at Landmark Mall, Rayan, Wakrah, Hyatt Plaza, Salwa Road and Villagio.
Among the highlights of the festival are a performance of ‘Peplum & Othello’, the comic spectacular, and ‘Comic Acrobats’, three times a day.

The Qtel event will also offer international games including ‘gladiator jousting, ‘bouncy boxing’, ‘Sumo wrestling’, ‘bungee run’, ‘bungee basketball’ and an ‘electronic penalty shootout’.
“The fete has been designed as a special ‘thank you’ for customers, for using the new generation of Concept Stores, which have attracted high volumes of customers in their first weeks of operation,” Qtel said.
Waleed Mohamed al-Sayed, Qtel executive director (Customer Service) said: “We designed the Concept Stores to be both advanced service centres and community resources, so we are very pleased to launch this special family festival for our customers. We hope it brightens their weekend and offer a note of thanks for their ongoing support and patronage.”

Qtel rolled out a new educational programme for a dozen schools in Qatar recently, aiming to teach children about the role telecommunications play in the development of the nation and discuss how technology can be used to learn more about the world.
As part of the programme, schoolchildren were taken on tours of some of the new Qtel Concept Stores, where experts have shown them working examples of the latest mobile phones, Internet modems and digital network solutions.

Each school participating in the project has been presented with a Sony VAIO laptop, for use in classrooms and computer training. In addition, students received an MP3/MP4 player as a gift from Qtel, to encourage creativity and enhance the students’ interest in new technology.
“The visits were fun-filled for all students, and both interactive and educational. Students were taught about the important role telecommunications plays in their everyday lives and were also introduced to the new Qtel concept shops,” al-Sayed said.

Qtel’s CSR Programme, “For Qatar, Hand in Hand,” covers a range of important issues for Qatar’s future. They include education, healthcare, environment, social welfare and sport.
Schools participating in the Qtel Visit Programme were all praise for the initiative, saying it helped make learning about technology more interactive and children think about the world and the way communications help to interact in a new light.

Abu Ayoub Al Ansary School, Abdullah Bin Turki School, Neseiba Bent Kaab School, Saud Bin Abdul Rahman School, Abdul Rahman Bin Jassim School, Al Kadisia Al Mustakilla School, and the Aspire Academy for Excellence were among the schools that participated in the programme.
