|| ABOUT THE WORKSHOP ||

Exploratory movement allows us to create movement sequences from our explorations with our moving bodies rather than simply learning a fixed choreography. In these two hours we will use elements of dance, play and awareness and engage with our bodies to gain insight into our personal narratives and life stories and the ways in which we relate to the space around us and within us.

Classes will draw from practices of dance, and awareness but the emphasis is on getting in touch with an individual quality of movement we each possess. There will be structure but also the freedom to play and explore around it.

|| ABOUT THE FACILITATOR ||

Karunya's movement experience includes Bharatanatyam, Indian Contemporary and Latin Dance styles. She is currently training in the Feldenkrais Method, a practice devised by Moshé Feldenkrais that has Awareness through Movement as one of its core components. She also teaches exploratory movement to a group of adults with special needs and conducts Movement Modules for adults.
As a performer, artist, writer, dancer and expressive arts therapist her work is deeply rooted in her belief in the power of the arts as a tool for healing, expression, transformation and engaging with ourselves more deeply and authentically.
