Qatar's Little Builders "Bridging Communities"

As part of the 2018 Qatar British Festival, in cooperation with the British Embassy in Qatar, the Qatar National Library will host the Institution of Civil Engineers Bridge Engineering Exhibition.

The exhibition highlights the importance of engineering, mathematics, architecture and the history of bridge-building, and celebrates the cultural bridges between Qatar and the UK.

The centrepiece is a 33-meter suspension bridge built out of more than 260,000 Lego bricks—the longest such structure in the world making it a Guinness Book of world record.

Anglo-American Rivalry in the Middle East: Book Talk

British Author, James Barr is a leading historian of the modern Middle East and author of ‘A Line in the Sand’. His new book, ‘Lords of the Desert’, tells the forgotten story of the struggle between Britain and America to dominate the post-war Middle East.

James read modern history at Oxford and is a visiting fellow at King’s College London.
